Weekly Roundup

March 14, 2025

Another week, another grouping of items that have been on my mind.

*post contains some affiliate links

Recipe: Spreads

This is an oldie Pioneer Woman recipe. The original post was 2009.
I started making these for Monday night bible study. I was honestly sick of the cookie hustle. They can eat 6 dozen cookies like I set out one sliced cucumber. So this is the route I've gone, and they get gobbled up... and I don't spend 3 hours making cookies. Honestly I think I like them better than a regular cookie.

Product I'm Loving: This Walking Pad

I was wanting something since I don't have the time during the school year to go to the park, and our neighborhood isn't really the ideal walking area. I've gotten to where any workout has to happen at home. I really love this for 3 reasons. First, it fits under the bed. Second, it has the option to incline. Finally, it keep me from having to pace the house to get steps.

Craft Project I'd Like to Start : New Look Pattern 6707

I've been holding onto this shirt pattern for about a year. This might sound strange, but I saw awhile ago where someone had made a wedding dress out of my favorite bed sheet set I've ever owned. Being millenials, we don't use the top sheet, and I want to make this blouse out of that top sheet.

Before you judge me, we use a thinner waffle blanket instead of a top sheet.

After reading a book about French children when Harry was a baby, I've sort of gobbled up anything in the European raising of kids that I can find. This book gives great insight into how they raise kids and is hilarious at the same time.

I love this podcast, at times they've got a bit of language, but it their summaries of books has directed which memoirs I'm reading. I'm not much on fiction. I also love hearing their takes on celebrities, it's like having this discussion with a friend while I'm working out.

Perfect for the mom who never gets to see anyone and her friends aren't really into what these people are up to.

For instance, the current episode is on Carol Radziwill. She was on RHONY for a time, but before that she was a journalist and married to/involved with the Kennedy crowd of the 90's. Young, hip, and terribly tragic.

Outfit:

Considering I was already thinking about it, I'm probably wearing a version of this to church Sunday.

Beauty Favorites May 2022

May 24, 2022

It's been a few years since I updated my beauty favorites.

Today I'm sharing a few items I reorder again and again, and a couple of new favorite items. Some dupes, some not.

Before Covid shut everything down I had been trying new products pretty frequently, but after two years of wearing a mask... makeup had taken a backseat. There was just no point at all in most products unless they were for your eyes.

I half forgot about items I liked, and half stopped caring.

Now, after months of being mask-less I've dug out a few old items and discovered a couple new. (Mainly because old favorites were discontinued.)

1. Almay Lip Vibes - Worry Less

This is supposed to be an affordable dupe for Charolette Tilbury Pillow Talk. My only issue is that the lip liner I was using ran out, and is discontinued. I ordered another lip liner that is supposed to be a good dupe (Rimmel Easy End Snob) and it's an awful dupe. Far too pink. So I'm still on the lookout for a great liner to go with this, if only Almay would make liners for each of their colors.

I really love this Lip Vibes color, but because finding a liner has been a chore there is a slight chance I'll splurge on the actual lip kit from Charolette Tilbury.

2. La Roche-Posey with Toleriane

I saw a dermatologist talk about this moisturizer on Youtube last year and have been hooked. I often use RetinA and harsh products on my face, which leads to it being very sensitive. I tend to get redness and at times even my beloved CeraVe burns.

When I'm at the height of RetinA burn, this stops it. Zero burn, zero redness. Will be reordering very soon.

3. Tarte Shape Tape

Why has it taken me so long to break down and buy this product?! For years I've used two different kinds of concealer at the same times to conceal the dark circles I fight, this singular product has put me down to one.

My only advice is to use a moisturizer type primer or eye cream right before applying so it goes on smoother, blot out with your fingers, the use a wet beauty blender to blend in and smooth it out.

4. IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream Illumination

This has been a ride or die product for about 6 years. The illumination makes you look glowy, but not wet and fake. The big bonus is the 50spf and anti-aging ingredients. The packaging has changed, it seems smaller, but hopefully the pump will hold out for the entire use of the product.

5. Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer (Soft Brown)

I've tried soft brown as well as taupe and find the soft brown just goes with my hair color better.

The thicker triangular shape of the pencil makes for filling your brows so much easier than their original pencil. I go over this with Elf Cosmetics Wow Brow and then a clear gel to set. The first two products really get to job done of making my brows not look so Millennial who plucked her eye brows nearly off in high school and is suffering now as a mid-30's person.

6. Mineral Fusion Brush On Sun Defense

Blame it on Korean and Asian beauty influencers, they always have the best anti-aging products, but I ordered this dupe. Colorescience brush on sunscreen is $69 dollars and there was just no way on earth I was paying that.

But I wanted a brush on sunscreen that I could reapply throughout the day - no white cast - and could go on over my makeup.

This is it people. Plus it's only $14!

FIVE Old Navy Dresses I'm Loving Right Now

May 17, 2022

With the summer heat in full swing, I tend to lean towards dresses.

Louisiana is hot, and peeling skinny jeans off your body at the end of the day is less than thrilling. Shorts work for after work and weekends... but church and school still require real clothing for the months of May - then August to October.

After the thrilling Laura Ashley craze of winter, I've grown fond of it in a sense and am leaning into that look for summer as well. I won't lie, I'm a touch sad I didn't get any collared dresses back in the winter.

With May sales happening at Old Navy, Mother's Day was a treat, it is high time to jump on it and forgo anything that clings to your legs for the next several months.

Memorial Day is coming up - so keep checking their app for big discounts.

And before I link to all of these dresses let me tell you my two criteria for a cute dress these days. First, I have to be able to wear biker shorts underneath. Elliot is ALWAYS lifting my dresses up, and I can't risk offering a peep show after church. Second, I have to be able to wear an actual bra with it. At this age, after nursing two children, a full blown real bra has to be in place.

Let me add a third one on before I link the dresses, I also want a decently high neckline. The older I get, the more coverage I appreciate.

1. Tiered Chambray Puff Sleeve All Day Midi Swing Dress

I bought this same dress but in blue gingham and can't find it on their website to save my life. Also, anything with "swing" in the title means you will be easy breezy during the scorching summer months.

2. Puff Sleeve Printed Sleeve Dress

This comes in several colors and might be my favorite of five. It's got arm coverage, leg coverage, and the dangling strings that allow you to tie this puppy up if you risk your toddler digging in the top of your dress. Plus it's super cute.

3. Fit & Flare Flutter Sleeve Tie-Back Midi Dress

This one is mom bra risky, but worth wearing one with straps. Plus it's long enough to not flash anyone and chambray might be my favorite material to date.

4. Flutter-Sleeve Smocked Floral Embroidered Mini Swing Dress

This dress also comes in pink and a blue chambray color. Conservative, cute, perfect for the hot months ahead. The embroidery detail makes it look better quality rather than a plain print dress.

5. Stripped Button Front All Day Midi Swing Dress

I'm in a full blown "what can I wear clogs with" phase and this dress is perfect for clogs. Wear it to work now and even into the fall season. The blue hue makes me much more versatile for spring through fall.

JANUARY || Things I Bought & Liked

February 5, 2021

*Post contains Amazon Affiliate links.

It's been a minutes since I wrote one of these posts.

But here we go, some of my faves from the past month.

1. SPORTS RESEARCH COLLAGEN PEPTIDES || It's been a second since I used collagen. I ended up on a brand last year that I wasn't the biggest of fans of in the end, it had too much taste in coffee. But I decided (after major skin issues on the old face) that it was time to get back to it. I can 100% say this has zero taste in your coffee and tea and I've seen such an improvement in my face. So much so that Jeremy even commented the other night that my skin looks really clear.

2. LIBEREX FACIAL CLEANSING BRUSH || Count this as #2 is what is changing my skin. I hyped up the Retin-A (and am still bitter than I can't get this doctor to give me a topics antibiotic so here we are trying other things), am taking collagen daily, and use this brush every morning. It comes with 3 heads and I tend to use the soft daily and the rougher brush once a week for a deep exfoliation. This is my reasonably priced dupe for the higher end facial brushes that I could never bring myself to spend the cash on.

3. DRMTLGY ACNE SPOT TREATMENT || This is #3 in the acne solutions to clear skin that has been going down! Since I again, can't get my hands on a topical antibiotic that I know works great for me, I've resorted to this. Here's a tip, only apply it where you need it. Don't all over face it if you don't have to, it's strong. To not interact too badly with the Retin-A I use this in the morning on my chin, nose, and forehead (my problem areas). Just a dab too! If I have breakouts I will slap some on that area as well.

4. EverTrim FITNESS RESISTANCE BANDS || My favorite plastic-ish bands molded in the rental (y'all it was a situation) so I needed a replacement when I got back on my health game in January. I've been seeing a lot of people using this style of fabric bands and I have not been disappointed. Not only are they tougher to stretch, I've been super sore!

5. MONIN COFFEE SYRUPS (SF VANILLA/CINNAMON BUN) || After ages upon ages of not being able to find the syrup I want consistently here (why on earth does BHAM have stocking issues ole po-dunk New Iberia never had) I broke down and ordered the same syrup a local coffee shop uses. It was worth it. Now I just need to get the birthday fairy to drop me a Nespresso and all will be right in the world. The cinnamon bun is their version of the Starbucks Cinnamon Dolce. The SF Vanilla... well that is just what I usually order.

6. COOP HOME GOODS PILLOW || This is the holy grail of pillows! We've had My Pillow for ages and they started going flat, like waking up on your death bed flat. I've been hearing a podcast I like talk about this pillow, so I bit the bullet and got two king size. It is heaven. HEAVEN! They send an extra bag of fill and you can increase the amount you have or remove some. It'll take your pillow game to the next level!

Amazon Lounge Wear You'll Love

December 7, 2020

I got together with a few friends and we found all of our favorite lounge wear prints that are perfect for gifts this season.

Or let's be real honest, none of us are dressing up for holiday parties this year... so you might as well get some festive comfy clothing that can seamlessly transition from that couch nap to driving around to look at lights on Christmas Eve.

Above you'll see the tags for my friends on Instagram, go follow them and check out their lounge wear links. Everyone is linked up in their profile!

Oh and if you need the perfect Christmas season necklace... Mimosa Handcrafted (out of Baton Rouge) has you covered. I love her jewelry and it's is all very well made by hand in her shop. I am in LOVE with her Nativity Bar Necklace.

So this Christmas Eve, Day, Day After Christmas Day... you'll find me cruising around town wearing this... and I am so very tempted to snatch up the red set as well!

Prepping for Virtual School... just in case it happens again.

July 27, 2020

As I've been preparing my own classroom for this upcoming school year that could potentially consist of weeks doing virtual school and weeks in the actual school building something hit me, I need to also have home prepared for just in case my child is in virtual school.

My plan for the summer was to begin working on Kindergarten things, making sure he was as ready as possible when he began. With Reading/Language not being his favorite subject, my plan for this summer was to hit letters and sounds hard.

So I organized myself a little three drawer corner of the dining room and plopped a Kindergarten style calendar on top. I even stole my basket I use to drag back and forth from intervention/computer lab in Louisiana.

Here's a peek at what's inside and what I'm keeping on hand incase we end up in virtual school!

Magnetic calendar from Target - lists day, month, weather, seasons.

In my basket: twist up crayons, markers, dry erase markers, a dry erase board and eraser, reward stickers, glue sticks, scissors, permanent markers for me, water color paint, stylus, and pencils. I've also got pencil grips.

Drawer #1: Small treasure box type rewards for days he might need one, My 4 Weeks to Read reading program, a zippy bag of the magnetic parts from my calendar.

Drawer #2: Bible lesson book, handwriting practice book, clear page protector for dry erase on worksheets (I've got math and handwriting in there now), Fun I Spy activity book, Dry Erase Letters and Numbers practice book, alphabet cards, Summer Brain Quest for his age group. (My plan is to get the Brain Quest workbook for his grade as well as the flash cards when we complete the summer workbook. They actually have a set of flashcards for kids starting at age 2, and I'll be getting it for Elliot on his birthday.)

Drawer #3: Plain sticker dots for activities (matching letter or numbers), Letter and number puzzles, dry erase board, blank books I found in the Target dollar spot as a reward (he loves illustrating a book), his hand me down Mobi-Go and Leap Pad. The Leap Pad can be used whenever since it's all learning but the Mobi-Go is just games and it used as a reward.

I've also got paper on hand and I need to restock my construction paper. We also practice on Khan Academy Kids. ABC Mouse, and Duolingo ABC on my iPad, hence the stylus.

This is all super simple and paired down. I just like keeping everything organized and in one place. As soon begins I'll probably print out worksheets that his teacher uses in virtual school. I also know my reading program isn't the one being used in school, but in the event he is needing extra help I have this on hand to help me teach him.

I know Louisiana and Alabama are both doing this, but your local PBS stations will be airing lessons. I saw the lineup for Louisiana on Facebook, so surely the Alabama one is floating around somewhere. If PBS is doing this for these states it is very likely others are as well.

If you have students in other grade levels, just think of having a set of their school supplies on hand. It also wouldn't hurt to have some sort of workbook for each subject they take to help as extra practice. There are also many websites that offer extra practice, trust me your teachers are pulling worksheets from there as well. Teacher stores and Amazon are great resources for finding workbooks. If all else fails... some teacher somewhere taught that lesson and posted it to Youtube or TeacherTube.

I realize I don't have craft materials in here, I'm just not that mom and recognize it. If you are, go for it. I'm not crafty for a whole host of reasons.

Anyway, I hoped this help if you are trying to think of how to organize a school work station. You really don't have to have a whole room or area for school work, you can just keep it organized in one space and pull out what you need. Honestly, I might keep this up over the years for homework too. I'll just need to add a pencil sharpener.

Things I Bought & Liked | September

October 7, 2019

This was a short month on purchases. Mainly because I use blog check to support my Amazon habit and somehow in the move my check was lost in the mail.

So anyway...

Toy Story Pajama Sets | The boys adore these and I am using them as Halloween costumes. This is a cheap costume option is you're ever looking for one. I got the idea from a Lafayette Mom friend.

Orgain Grass Fed Protein Shake | I've been struggling to get my breakfast calories in and this was my solution. Easy. Tastes good. High Protein. Clean. Done & done.

John Freida Frizz Ease 3 Day Straight | Adore! I've been using this for 6 years and it really helps me get 3 days out of my hair before I have to wash it and straighten again.

Vanicream Lite Lotion | #1 is came in a pump so Hallelujah! #2 I love the thick stuff and the kids skin is doing just fine so I moved to a lighter one, if Elliot has another dry patch I'll move back to heavy lotion.

Nutpods Pumpkin Spice Creamer | This creamer alone is not only Whole30/Paleo friendly it is 100x better than any other pumpkin spice anything I've tried. It's yummy and not over-powering. Plus it's only 10 calories a serving.

Biosil Natural Factors | I might actually give up my collagen habit. This supplement is taken morning and night and helps your body create it's own collagen. Great for skin, hair, nails... and wrinkle prevention. Basically everything.

Love, Welcome, Serve Cookbook | I could this at half the price from a second hand seller and couldn't be happier. It's been sitting in my wish list for ages. I have made many of Amy's recipes and really love them. Even for guests too! My favorite by far has been the poppyseed chicken from her blog, but the chili in the book is amazing. I've heard the strawberry cake is to die for but haven't made it yet.

48oz Nalgene | My poor old Camlbak was on it's last leg and needed to be replaced. I had a Nalgene before the Camelbak and both brands last a long time. The Camlbak actually lasted 6 years. This one will last until I kill it in the dishwasher like the last Nalgene. I also use this brand for kid cups and really love them.

YALUXE Tote for Women | It's a good tote, well made. I like that it has a strap with a clasp for keys, plus it has a small zipper bag on the inside that I use as a wallet. The fabric is such that it can be wiped off easily. My only complaint, I don't think I'm a tote bag person. I much prefer a backpack. So I'll likely give this perfectly new bag to my mother.

Things I Bought & Liked | August

September 4, 2019

This wasn't a big purchase month, actually it was more of a restocking of sorts. Most purchases were mattresses from At Home and a rug from Target... but don't even ask me which one. I bought what was on sale and big enough.

Hanhoo Blemish Patch | The fact that these are readily available in the US now gives me all the praise hand emojis! This is yet another K-Beauty concept that works wonders. The little patches don't contain medicine but are a material that will soak up the oil in a zit. Think nasty cystic zits, not black heads. It might take a few nights, and if I'm not going anywhere I'll wear one during the day as well. Either way, this was a repurchase from Amazon but Walmart carries them as well.

Anastasia Beverly Hills - Brow Definer | I started out using their other brow pencil and accidentally bought this one only to fall in love. So this is roughly Brow Definer number 3. I go between Taupe and Soft Brown, I think Soft Brown is probably more my shade.

Joovy Spoon Walker | Finally a new purchase. I got rid of a lot of our baby play items when we moved into the apartment and am finally able to buy things I'd really like to have now that we have space. I love this walker because it doesn't have toys attached to it and the tray can be removed and cleaned. Currently our little crawfish only goes backwards in it but it does contain his mischief for a moment.

GVIEWIN iPad Cover | I've been happy with this really cute floral iPad cover... don't even ask why I had to buy a new iPad and cover. (Forgot them at a hotel who wanted to act like I was out of my mind.) FYI if you need a new iPad check out Groupon, found one for the price of a Kindle.

Natural Vitality Calm | I BUY THIS ON REPEAT! I'm by no means a calm person and at night it's the worst. My mind will race and keep me awake. Between this and melatonin I can sleep at night and not be quite as high strung. Bonus points is that it's just magnesium and keeps things working... if you get my gist.

Earth Mama Milk Maid Tea | My supply still hasn't gotten back to normal between the stress of moving, a new job, and mother nature messing with things. I drink this daily and also take the UpSpring fenugreek supplement. If any other mamas have experience with this and have a good solid solution send it my way. I'm at a loss. I've never had a problem nursing wise that Blue Bell Ice Cream couldn't fix and this one isn't fixing easy. Two weeks and I'm lucky to get 4 ounces and have been known to get only one. My freezer stash isn't going to hold for long.

Things I Bought & Liked | July

August 9, 2019

Another month. Anther round of things I bought and liked... and one I'll share later that I did not like at all.

Wet & Wild Photofocus Setting Spray | This is a repeat purchase that I will continue to repeat until a better dupe is pointed out to me. I use powder blush and contour so a setting spray is a must, and this particular one is a nice dupe for Urban Decay.

The Original Jade Roller | I've been tempted to get one of these for ages and finally sprung for it. Granted I can't tell if I'll look like Cindy Crawford when I'm 80 just yet, but it's relaxing, cooling, and de-puffs with all its facial massage like goodness.

Phone Tripod | I've got a big heavy duty tripod of my heavy duty camera. I wanted something lighter so family photos. This particular one comes with a bluetooth connection to snap the photo from a distance, I need to figure it out because I plan to get our photo in front of the mural on St. Peter St before we move. It also wraps around whatever and holds pretty well. I'm impressed.

Maledan Compatible with Fitbit Alta Band | I bought a blush color back in the winter and loved it, however my desire to wear a lot of black rubbed all over the band and made it lack luster. I got a plum color this time, and if you've worn a Fitbit for any length of time you know the importance to have a good band. A watch style band is what has saved me after wandering around the church trying to sync up to figure out when I was within 15 feet of it.

OtterBox Symmetry Clear Series | We got new phones... new cases were needed. I always go with Otterbox, I've managed to keep phones for years without damage and I drop mine a lot!

Physician's Choice Collagen Peptides | It my most ridiculous voice "YAASS QUEEN!" I adore Vital Proteins but I can't fork over that much money to it all the time. I used another brand that was this asme price but it made my tea taste more like beef ramen. This my friends is tasteless. TASTELESS! Finally the holy grail of Collagen Peptides.

Vega Protein & Greens | Another re-purchase. Vanilla is a first for me though, it had a big discount so I was willing to take the risk on a not-chocolate-flavor. It's worked out well. While I prefer a Paleo beef protein for my digestive system, this one is ideal for making my favorite macro bars. I need an easy on the go protein for when I can't make a shake and don't want to spend 2 bucks a pop on a macro bar.

Narwey Large Hanging Toiletry Bag | As someone who has lived hours from family for years and packed SO. MUCH. STUFF.  I finally said enough of not having it organized well (hello Enneagram 1 self) and bought some travel bags. I also grabbed a better laundry bag from the Target dollar section that stand up and is sturdy in the event you see it. I wasn't disappointed in this bag though, it was used this weekend with love from me. I'm making myself carry travel size of a few items, I can't very well wander around with a ginormous hairspray everywhere we go.

MKPCW Portable Travel Cosmetic Bag | This bag is the exact same print as the one above, just sold by a different Amazon company. Also, in love. I typically carry my makeup packed tight in one bag, brushes in another, and a wet sponge to boot. Seriously, get yourself one of these and its magical compartments if you travel often. No need to splurge on a travel bag.

Welada Skin Food | Another item that has been sitting in my "save for later" cart. It's super thick and perfect for nighttime. Especially while traveling. Just don't do like me and say you'll use it for day as well. This is too heavy for a day cream. I repeat.  TOO. HEAVY. FOR. DAY. USE. Otherwise, heaven. I like to slather things on at night in hopes of again... looking like Cindy Crawford when I'm 80.

Now I do have one product I was heavily disappointed in, but I'm going to make a whole post out of it.

Things I Bought & Liked | June

July 3, 2019

June was a good month for new products. Several hits and only one real bust.

Pond's Cleansing Balm | I have avoided the original Cold Cream for ages because it made me break out, but I can get behind this one. I've used coconut oil for a very long time to remove eye makeup and thought I'd give this a try. It touted to be a good dupe for a few products that are a touch pricier. All in all, it removes makeup well and is a good first step if you are double cleansing.

Tarte Set: Blush :: I'm sold on this, it's long wearing, as a good color pay off, and comes in very nice natural shades.

Clay Stick Foundation :: I don't wear a lot of foundation, I'm mainly a CC cream gal. This had been a great addition to my routine for the area around my mouth and lower face that shows a few more veins, it's just better coverage. I still use my It! Cosmetics CC everywhere else.

Maneater Mascara :: I love the mascara but I prefer a more traditional brush.

Eyeliner :: There's a solid chance I'll forgo my long standing relationship with the Bare Minerals eyeliner that is like this one and stick to Tarte. This stuff hold and does not smudge.

Lip Paint in Salty :: I loved the formula of this but I ordered the wrong color. I'll be trying out OG next.

Yeti Rambler 24oz :: Mama won Father's Day and then got jealous. I got this for Jeremy because I adore my 14oz and he has really enjoyed it.

Freshly Picked Olive Classic Crossbody | The Mother's Day present I forgot to post last month. I was in need of a new crossbody that looked nicer than my Kavu bags. This allows me to carry both my own stuff as well as a baby diaper if needed. I got it during their big sale in May and scored a really good price.

ANRABESS Women's Summer Tank Jumpsuit (jogger bottom) | If you are taller I suggest getting this jumpsuit. I'm a touch short so it isn't the best length for me, but it's super cute none the less.

ANRABESS Women's Jumpsuit (shorts) | This is the way to go if you are looking for easy breezy and are shorter. I wasn't disappointed with either of these finds.

Dove Refresh + Care Dry Shampoo | When it came time to go camping I couldn't warp my mind around using my beloved Dry Bar Dry Shampoo that week. Let's be honest my hair ends up in a bun the entire time. (actually it's more like that Target checkout meme because I always looks like death made over). I got this in place of using expensive products while tent living and sweating. Dove wasn't my favorite and it's the best. But! But, when I was washing my hair at night and just needed something for volume that would make me look more human this got the job done. I don't think it works well for second day hair but is perfectly fine for adding volume and texture on clean hair.

10 Things Every Ministers Wife Needs to Know | A pastor's wife I know posted about this book after the SBC Convention this summer. I have to say, as far as I've read it's full of advice you know but need to hear often. Reading 10 Things is very much like sitting down for coffee with a more experienced pastor's wife and gleaming all of her knowledge. This is definitely something I'll hold onto to reread over the years.

American Gospel: Christ Alone Movie | Let me preface this with this... we rented this on Amazon and then ordered the DVD. This 2 hours movie turned into more like 3 after we had paused it to discuss every step of the way. It's a great look at popularity Christianity in America and just how far we've gotten away from the truth in many instances. They're coming out with a second movie soon.

Things I Bought & Liked | May

June 7, 2019

It's been non stop since school let out, but here's last month's Amazon buys!

Eucerin Q10 Anti Wrinkle Face Cream | I've put off replacing my night cream and finally broke down and purchased one. This is not disappointing, it's everything I love about the dermatologist approved brands with all the anti wrinkle things I love. My skin looks much more hydrated in the morning after I use this.

Teddie Organics Rosehip Seed Face Oil | Oldie but goodie. I've been using this for 2 years and had to repurchase. This is one of the few beauty products that I always keep on hand. I started using it when we were trying to get pregnant with Elliot because I had to quit Retin-A. Rosehip oil has vitamin A in a form that isn't harmful to baby, plus it's incredibly moisturizing. Don't be afraid of face oils, I get breakouts from mineral oil containing products, not this.

English Tea Strainer | That stainless steal french press from a few months back isn't my favorite as far as keeping all the grounds out goes. So coffee meets tea strainer. If you're in the market for one, this fits across all of my mugs as well as my Yeti Rambler 14oz.

Vetinee Women's Overall Shorts | My mother said I looked like Junior High Emily, but these are legit. I did size up, this is that slightly stretchy jean material. I initially ordered the dark because the light wash wasn't in stock but this month I am ordering the light. They're just fun, and probably the only 90's trend I am going to get back on. For size reference (I wear a 00, just kidding, fashion blogger jab) I wear an 8-10 at Old Navy and mediums in everything else. I ordered a large in these for so it would be a touch roomy. No one wants a tight overall.

Sansi Once Piece Rash Guard | Elliot needed a swimsuit since he is too chunky for Harrison's baby swimsuit. This is getting the job done.

TSLA Active Shorts | My biggest issue breastfeeding is that it limits my clothing. My mama hips after two kids weren't getting along with my premama hip sized bike shorts, so I ordered a new pair. This is my way of wearing a dress and being able to pump or nurse without flashing my girl bits to all of America. If you're in the market, this brand is soft, compares well to other leggings I own, and had a pocket for snacks. Just kidding... it's not for snacks but I do put bobby pins in it.

Things I Bought & Liked | April

May 3, 2019

Wet & Wild Photofocus Setting Spray | This is a long time love product of mine. Tati Westbrook said on her Youtube channel ages ago that it was a decent dupe for Urban Decay Up All Night, and it really is. Make sure you get the white bottle though. The black is matte and the sprayer gets clogged immediately. The white though, it's sheer setting spray heaven.

Mina Eyebrow Henna | After having my brows done for my birthday I decided I could do them myself for a fraction of the cost. I could. I did. They looked exactly the same and for 12 applications I paid about 14 dollars. Compare that to the 50 to have my brows over plucked and then dyed. Yeah, I'm growing out what threading did to me. Let me also add... I also dyed my eyelashes. This henna dye is a miracle product.

IWOLLENCE Loose Henley Blouse | Yes, I love it, you need one too, end of story. I'll be ordering every color.

Tosowoong Enzyme Powder Wash | Touted as a dupe for that 60 dollar Drunk Elephant Rice Enzyme Powder (maybe another brand, I need a nap) this is exactly that and at a fraction of the cost. It's a nice light exfoliating wash.

Olaplex 3 | I was a hair virgin until 2 Octobers ago. After two balayage treatments... I was about convinced that I was going to have to give it up. My hair was brittle and just not pretty anymore. THIS. ABSOLUTELY. SAVED. MY. HAIR.  One bottle will easily last me several treatments. Know that it isn't a conditioner though, this is a treatment to rebuild the hair structure.

Orgain Grass Fed Clean Whey Protein | I haven't broken into the powder protein yet, but I did try the premade shakes I bought Jeremy. It's really good and everything I was looking for, organic and clean with a healthier sugar. It doesn't contain aspartame or sucralose.

Blissford Satin Pillowcase | Possibly the ugliest thing ever, but it gets the job done. My hair had started knotting up at night with my regular pillowcase and messing with my desire to not wash my hair that often. A silk/satin pillowcase is actually supposed to help with breakage as well as wrinkles. So more good reasons to use one. It's just so dang ugly. I struggled to pick a color and the lavendar is awfully florescent.

Jumbo Smoothie Straws | If you love the Ikea straws but live too far from Ikea to drive just to get a straw... this is your straw.

Womice Stainless Steel French Press | After Jeremy dropped and broke our glass French Press I wanted something more sturdy. This double walled thing was the solution. It's basically made the same as a Yeti mug. My only complaint is that the strainer/press thing lets coffee grounds get through. I've had to resort to straining my coffee through a tea strainer, but whatever. No one can break it and prevent me from drinking coffee for 2 Prime shipping days again.

A few other non-Amazon items >>>

I've been wanting to get Harrison a gummy vitamin that has folate instead of folic acid. Folic acid isn't adsorbed by the body as well and can actually cause problems for some people. [Here's an article I found on the matter.] Anyway, I found one. Granted it isn't some sugar free picture of crunchy health, but it contains the vitamins I want for my 4 year old that can fill in the gaps that diet alone won't cover these days. I got a bottle of the Lil Critters Gummy Vites at Target and decided to find them at our local Walmart, just be careful and read what is in them. Some bottle sizes contain folate and others have folic acid.

I also almost bought the Waleda cream that I saw a dermatologist touting on Youtube, but realized it contained mineral oil. That's a big fat no for my skin and immediately causes breakouts. Instead I thought I'd use the Honest Company Balm that I use on the kids... on my face. I've actually been liking it. It's heavy. Like HEAVY. But at night that is what I want, as much moisture as I can slather on. I like the ingredients better than the Waleda, they're much more skin friendly is you have breakouts and still want a heavier night moisturizer.

While we were in Austin I saw one of the Lush next to the Amy's Ice Cream we were hitting up. I had to try something so I walked away with their FOMO Jelly Mask. The purpose of this mask is to reduce redness, and it actually works great. I was expecting more of my Korean jelly mask but what it turned out to be was a jelly mask texture that dried down like a regular mask. It's great and if you have redness I'd suggest it. But, BUT, what I'd really recommend and am kicking myself for not purchasing is their Charity Lotion/Balm Pots. It was the most amazing hand/body lotion I've used in ages and had zero fragrance. After we left and my hands still felt great I was pretty sad that I talked myself out of that $7 pot of lotion.

Things I Bought & Liked | March

April 10, 2019

Here's another month of what I've been up to per Amazon. There are a few items that haven't been used yet... impending camping trip. But let's get into it anyway >>>

Revlon Teasing Brush | I've been needing an update and this looks like what my hairstylist uses... so I ordered one. I'm liking it for a less harsh tease. For a full on tease you'll need the old fashion comb for sure.

Molina Mexican Vanilla | This is my hands down favorite vanilla, only reason it is showing up here is that our store never has it in stock these days. After a few months of needing to replace it I just Primed that sucker. I even tried using a different brand, it just was not the same.

Kidco Go Pod Activity Station | One of the items we ditched in the downsize was our activity station. I got this for a three fold reason 1) perfect for camping 2) easily folds up and can be used around the house 3) since it's so portable we can take it to the park.

CampBro Sleeping Pad | Item #2 for camping is this lovely little camp pad. We aired it up and it really distributes weight well. This + a sleeping bag is what Harrison will be sleeping on now that Elliot is taking over the Pack n' Play when we go campaing.

Yogalicious High Waist Ultra Soft Leggings | I'm all bout a great review and the Yogalicious leggings have nearly 900 great reviews and touted at being a dupe for Lululemon... get you a pair. The MSRP on the tag said $88 and I paid $18. I'm dead serious when I say BEST. LEGGINGS. EVER.

La Pure Snail Regeneration Korean Face Mask |

Vital Protein Collagen Peptides | An oldie but goodie, I decided to order this again after just being sick of the lower quality brands. I use it to get a touch of protein in with my afternoon tea and cross all my fingers that the collagen is doing me some good. It has zero taste so it doesn't matter what you mix it with, and bonus points for dissolving with with little effort on my part.

Bucky 40 Blinks Sleep Mask | I have been using this mask for probably 8+ years now. It's a definite keeper if you are sensitive to light at night. Make sure it's the 40 Blinks though, I bought a different one at TJ Maxx and regretted the heck out of it, and was insanely happy when it finally fell apart and I could replace it. I tend to get a new one every 6 or so months. By then the lining is separating and the elastic has stretched out too much.

Comotomo Silicone Baby Teether | Elliot loves this. The shape is better than every other baby teether we own, it allows him to hold it easily while still getting the nubs to his little gums.

Varied Shoes Ankle Strap Chunky Clog | We shall see how amazing they are when they show up... but until then I (uncharacteristically) jumped on this deal that I saw on IG. I've been looking for a pair of clogs like this and you can't beat paying $23.

New Balance Fresh Foam Cruz | Size up if you have a half size foot like myself. I could probably even wear a 10.5 instead of a 10 but I just can't bring myself to wear larger than a 10. The Rain color is a really nice light grey. They're honestly so comfy and cute that I wish I had an excuse to own multiple pairs of tennis shoes.

Monogrammed Jersey Lined Pullover | Back in the high school days the water girl crowd had the best wind-breaker material pullover. I wore that puppy to death and nearly into my 30s. Luckily this popped up on Jane and I couldn't be happier. If they sell out just request to be notified when it's back in stock, took about two weeks. I initially wanted it in Feb but had to wait. Then it took nearly a month for it to ship.

Things I Bought & Liked | Feb

March 1, 2019

It's been another month and I've done my best to keep Amazon Prime in business.

Here's what I've bought::

Now Essential Oils Peaceful Sleep | I've been using this for quite some time and just bought another bottle. I swear to you diffusing this in our rooms has helped with calming everyone for sleep. The aromatherapy makes a difference with Harrison, he falls asleep much faster now. Bonus points, it smells amazing.

Glass Meal Prep Containers | I've been over my old plastic containers for quite some time. These are a great size for lunch, sturdy, and heat up without burning your hands when you take them from the microwave.

Amazon Basics Stylus | This. Because everyone needs a good stylus for writing on your Insta Stories.

Bamboobies Yoga Nursing Bra | Regular sports bras are out of the question right now, the boobies need to be a tad free for milk production. This one is really comfy and did not disappoint. But it's a yoga bra so don't expect super constriction.

Revly Digestive Enzyme Complex | Postpartum mixed with a protein powder I was really liking is what I've discovered to be the root cause of some digestive issues. This makes a big difference. A friend said that her nutritionist suggested she take a digestive enzyme, and y'all know I'm always up for a good supplement.

Amazon Essentials Packable Puffer Jacket Womens & Mens | Get. You. One. This was a nice, inexpensive replacement to our old winter coats and they're super warm. Not Colorado warm, but freezing cold Louisiana warm.

Vanicream | One of my Insta mom friends suggested this for Elliot's dry skin. This cured his dry red patchy spots in two days flat. Plus it doesn't contain lanolin, parabens, fragrance, and all the bad junk.

Medela Nursing Comfort Bra | I needed to replace my bras from when I nursed Harry and this is a great, well made option. Bonus points, it's made by a brand that makes a 50 dollar bra and it's the same exact bra people. Save your money and buy this dupe.

Returns

Essential Oil Roller Bottles | I was sent these twice with missing parts, avoid them at all cost.

Zammex Collagen Peptides | The flavor of this has just gotten worse, I use to be able to mask it with coffee or a smoothie. Not anymore, now it is all beef Ramen all the time.

icyzone Workout Tanks | They ran small and the fabric wasn't my favorite. It showed every flaw you ever thought you had.

Things I Bought and Liked || January

February 15, 2019

I'm constantly trying new products, so I decided... why not share them. So here ya go, round one is basically everything from November through January!

The Ordinary Buffet | If you're looking for a serum from The Ordinary and don't know what to do, this is the one to choose. It's exactly what it says, a buffet. It a touch of all the good stuff they have. This is another I've reordered about 3 times over the years. But pay attention to their website, I got them half off over Black Friday this year.

Teddie Organics Rose Hip Oil | I've used this day and night for a year. I love it. I put this under my moisturizer and can tell a major difference in how dry my skin is when I don't use it.

Dr. Pedicure Foot Exfoliation Peeling Mask | It works, but not as well as the Korean Baby Foot I found a few years ago that wasn't even in English. It peeled the skin off, but it could have done more.

Amazon Essentials Electric Kettle | We use this multiple times a day after ditching our coffee pot. I (as the every loving Anglophile) wanted to go a more European route with my tea and coffee since my tea kettle is 10 years old and needed replacing. This did the trick. It heats up water in under a minute, I swear.

Turkish Delight | I bought this for my class when we were reading The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe... it is insanely yummy.

YETI Rambler 14oz | I would be exaggerating if I said I used this less than every single day. I make my coffee at 6am and it's the prefect temperature when I sit down at my desk to take roll at 8am. This mug has saved me from cold coffee since November 1.

Garden of Life Sport Protein Powder Chocolate | I abandoned my beloved Paleo protein powder for this one. There's nothing funky in it and the big bonus is that it contains pre/probiotics and BCAAs.

Nalgene Kids Grip-and-Gulp | We were having an issue with Harrison chewing on the spout of his Contigo cups, this cup solved that. The Nalgene is a hard spout so he can't gnaw it off. I know he should probably use a regular cup at some point, but I don't even use one.

George Foreman 4 Serving Removable Plate Grill | This is my lifesaving dinner purchase! I can get dinner done in under 30 minutes and then pop off the plates and toss them in the dishwasher and that makes this mother of two small people with a full time job very happy.

Amazon Basics Packing Cubes | I've been needing a better packing option. With Elliot new to the clan he is taking over a whole seat we once used to hold the 3 drawer thing for camping clothing. My new goal is to get us all in one bag and this is the way... the previous way being gallon baggies. But that way costs more in the long run. I got myself and the kids in a duffel bag at Christmas this way.

R+Co Badlands Dry Shampoo Paste | A hair dresser use this on me at LAFMB Moms Night Out and I was impressed. It's somewhere between a texture paste and dry shampoo, but I wouldn't recommend it on day two. It's something to be used on day one when you're styling and just makes your style last longer and appear less dirty the next day. This is great for flat or fine hair.

Amazon Essentials Packable Puffer Jacket | I'm kind of shocked at how great this jacket is. I've now worn in it pretty chilly Louisiana conditions (it got down to the 30s once lol) and it blocks the cold and wind very well!

Ulgoo Weekend Duffle Bag | Large, waterproof, seems made well enough, it was everything I was looking for.

Baby Essentials - Second Kid Edition

February 11, 2019

This is something that I think is an ever evolving list for most mothers.

New baby items come out, you see what would make life easier, you get them. At the same time you are getting rid of baby items as well. (I'll make a list of what we got rid of when we moved at the bottom of the post.)

What I've got below is a list of the items I added to our arsenal of baby things this time, as well as the oldie but goodies we are still using from the days of baby Harry.

2nd Baby Essentials

KeaBabies Infinity Nursing Cover | With Harrison I used the free cover you could order and only pay shipping. He spent all his free time pushing it out of the way. This time I found a much cheaper version of the Milk Maid infinity nursing cover and car seat canopy and am in love. It's made nursing in public much more comfortable and it's insanely soft. Seriously, I nurse in Sunday School, a mixed gender class, every single week. I even nursed while eating lunch with friends last weekend. At no point was I worried Elliot would kick free.

Moby Wrap | I've gone back and forth with this one. Initially I was using it in place of my Baby Bjorn. I quickly found out that I'm not a soft carrier gal in public. They're just too hard to get back on. Instead what I've started doing is wearing Elliot in the evenings (at that time they need a nap and won't lay down) while I cook so he can cat nap before bath time. He will nap much better in this than in the Bjorn because it's much more cozy and snug. I think he rattles around too much with my cooking to sleep in the Bjorn, honestly.

Taking Cara Babies Sleep Courses | I followed Baby Wise with Harrison and was stressed. I had a schedule but felt I was missing some magic key. Then I read Moms on Call with Elliot. Before maternity leave was over I knew I was still missing something. Somehow I came across TCB and bought her course. Y'all she gave the actual advice I was looking for. I can schedule. Schedules are easy. In fact, the Moms on Call app is great for a schedule. But tips to get a baby to sleep, soothe himself, and get through a fussy period... that's what I need and Cara gave me that information.

RHOM Travel Sound Machine | Cara from Taking Cara Babies gave this advice and I think I could have saved a lot of car crying with Harry if I had it... get a travel sound machine. This particular one charges and I'm not wasting money on batteries. I only have to pop this into his car seat, cover him with the car seat cover, "car swaddle" and he's sound asleep.

Haaka Manual Breast Pump | This is a great way to 1) gather what would be lost into a breast pad during letdown and 2) increase your supply. It puts just enough pressure on you that your body wants to make more milk. I use it a few times a week depending on my supply and generally get between 1-2 ounces.

Mam Anti-Colic Bottles | I was shocked at how easy the baby took a bottle this time. I don't know if it is these or luck of the draw, but he took to them like a champ the very first time.

Lavender Castile Soap | Hello sensitive skin baby. He is a crusty little thing and I moved to using castile soap with him to have something less harsh. Plus it's much cheaper than items like Noodle & Boo or Tubby Todd that are usually recommended. Also... less ingredients and better EWG rating.

Silicone Loofah | This loofah is life. I got one for the kids bathroom as well as ours and love it. This is a much more hygienic option to the usual mesh loofah.

Probiotic Drops | I started the colic fight much earlier with baby number two. There was no way I was going to deal with the newborn gas any longer than I had to. On top of gas drop and my beloved Dupois Colic Remedy, I started giving Elliot these at bedtime and the irritated baby tummy really subsided.

LaVie Lactation Massager | This. Mamas THIS is makes pumping so much more fulfilling, rewarding, better output, heck I don't know the word. With Harry I did hand massage while pumping to try and hit those ducts that had more milk but weren't releasing easily with just the pump. Using this massager has honestly caused me to have 1-2 days worth of pumped milk stashed into the freezer every week. I just keep it on the constant high vibrate and move it around my boobs while I pump, when I find a duct that has more I just leave it there a bit with a bit more pressure.

Oldies But Goodies:

Puj Tub | We use this for baths up until 5 months. After that I'm moving Elliot to THIS bath seat so I can still bath both kids at the same time.

Ergo Original Baby Carrier | Nothing beast a structured carrier that distributes the weight to your hips.

Baby Bjorn | Honestly I thought I wouldn't use it this time. I really thought I'd use the Moby and then go to the Ergo... nope. Turns out this is easier in public than the Moby.

Rock n' Play Sleeper | The devil of infant products itself. This will cause an amazing newborn sleeper until the day come that you must wean the baby into an actual bed. Then all hell breaks loose. I'll try to remember next time to not sleep in this again.

DOHM Sound Machine | I've bought cheaper versions. Don't buy cheaper versions, they just break easily. I now own two, one in each room. When the kids are in the same room my plan in to place the second machine between their beds to cut the noise they each make and hopefully not disturb each other.

Ikea Antilop High Chair | Cheap, easy to clean, you just can't beat it. I've bought this as baby gifts for friends. Seriously, don't waste your money on a traditional high chair. If you're doing Baby Led Weaning, this is a dream at clean up.

Graco Jogger/Travel System | This is a great singleton jogger, it move smoothly and is priced well. We are now using it with number two until he is big enough for the Britax double stroller (because .

Honest Company Nipple Balm | I try to avoid lanolin and this balm ticks all the boxes for me. I just can't wrap my head around putting something on me that would end up in the baby's mouth and isn't really food safe. The HC Nipple Balm is organic and doesn't have any funky ingredients, plus it really speeds up the healing process.

Honest Company All Purpose Balm | Previously Healing Balm, this is the nipple balm on crack. I can put this on any scratch and it heals much faster. It even helps with little baby eczema patches.

Dupois Colic Remedy | Everyone swore this was the holy grail of baby gas solutions, and after two newborns I can tell you it is. And worth every penny of that $30 bottle. In fact this reminded me that I needed more and placed a order for it just now. I give 1/2 tsp of this after his last feed at bedtime and it's a world of difference in how well we does... the alternative being fighting baby gas all night.

Bright Stars Activity Gym | This is something I don't spend much on (or hey grandma has bought one for Christmas). I'd love something that has a really pretty look, but whatever. It gets the job done and doesn't need to be ultra nice. Especially since the dog and big brother mess with it... and the dog messed with Harrison's as well. Honestly the dog also messed with Joshua's (my sister's son) 10 years ago) You just can't win with our dogs.

Items we ditched:

Bouncer Seat - I am going to sit him up in the Ikea High Chair in the kitchen with us. I've even used the Rock n' Play in the kitchen while I'm cleaning to entertain him.

Baby Activity Center - bulky, massive, no room for it. He has a brother to entertain him and I might buy a door bouncer eventually. Our sitter has one of these so he can play in that there.

Bumbo - it was borrowed but I'm good without it.
