I not joking when I say that I use Pinterest to meal plan, and I promise you after years of doing so it has really revolutionized how I cook.

I've been living on Pinterest lately, so here's my favorites.

We've been using the PEEL method for awhile with writing and yesterday I was introduced to the RACES method. Gotta say I like how this explains it much better, it's basically the same as PEEL just a more easily understood acronym.





We are a Samoas family, therefore this pie is getting made over Thanksgiving.





Baby Sign Language, has anyone else had success with it? I know I'm lazy about it, but I'd say we've got "all done" slightly nailed down. Like a rusty nail in an old board nailed down, but like you tried to nail a rusty nail into an old board, not removing...anyway. He at least waves around crazy when he wants me to pick him up from the nursery.





I really love the idea of putting this scripture on plates that you're sending food somewhere on.





Gingerbread Latte? Yes!





In case you missed it last time, these lactation cookies are the bomb dot com for boosting milk supply.





As soon as Jan 1st hits I'm making bone broth. (I'm pushing off Paleo until it's closer to weaning, I'd really like to have a larger freezer stock and enjoy Christmas before that extra calorie burn disappears.)





To remember our family vacay to Puerto Rico pre baby days I'm making Mallorcas over Thanksgiving week, and maybe at Christmas again if they come out well!





I want a Tartan throw or two for Christmas decor and I think this is my best bet for making one relatively inexpensive. You'll see where I'm going with the Tartan idea once the tree is up.

It appears there has been relief from sick baby land. 

Which means Mama got time to blog. 

She also got a lunch date thanks to Granddaddy and Gigi, which made her feel like a new woman this week! But let's not talk in third person this entire post! 

Fall is upon us, which means it got lower than 80 one day in September in South Louisiana! I'm in love with this outfit as a fun transition piece, #whitejeansallyear! (well at least when mine start fitting again)

Jeremy bought me a giant plaid scarf that I lived in last winter. 
Now all I need is a good black tshirt and I'm belting that puppy and wearing it with jeans.

This Halloween costume is to DIE for! If you've seen me in public since March you've probably seen me wearing Harrison. This particular get-up would be great for Trunk R Treat, especially if it's cold.

Now this is an item I'll be scouring the thrift stores for - L.L.Bean Boots. 
They just seem like the perfect winter casual boot, especially for all the rain down here!

I Heart Pinterest - is it fall yet?

Granted I know we've officially had only one morning at this point with below 90 temps.... 
but that means fall is in the air people! 

I suddenly want to break open that can of pumpkin in my pantry 
and get cracking on my pumpkin door hanger.

I Heart Pinterest - Back to School

School is upon us teachers! Like it or not.

I recruited my hubby this past week to come and hook up computers, which saved me I don't ever know how much time. There's no telling how that would have gone if I was being yelled at by the baby the entire time.

All that's left now is a bulletin board or two and a bit or organization.

Oh, and tracking down my computer cart with my printer on it. It vanished over the summer.

Until then, here's a few pins I'm utilizing in my room this year!


I'm obsessed with this Welcome Letter, I already printed it out and edited it for my class! 


In case you're like me and feel like the writing advice you give them goes in one ear and out the other. 


Since we aren't really doing Spelling anymore, here's my solution to help the kids with the words they need. 


I really want to teach proper note taking this year and use those journals the best we can.


Better binder organization, yes please!


Definitely making this! 


Hoping the ribbon will help the kids know where they left off in a notebook easier without having to flip for 10 minutes. 


I'm hoping this "waiting on the teacher" will help with the line that forms when I'm helping proofread writing. I think half the little people stand in line to waste time. 


Since my welcome letter had a little about me spot I'm going to use these for the board outside my room!

Pinterest seems to take up a lot of my middle of the night nursing time. 

Here's what I've been obsessive over this week, the link to pin in below the image. 
(I desperately hate the widget thing Pinterest created and really miss the old way!)

I really love this mudroom idea. It would work great in a house like ours that possesses no actual mudroom and would keep me from putting my purse on chairs. 

Plus you can get these crates for $10 at Michael's, I've actually seen them.

We're redoing the kitchen table sometime soon, the light stain just isn't my cup of tea anymore. What I'm really struggling with is whether or not to strip the bottom of the table and stain the whole thing a dark walnut or just chalk paint the bottom. 

I've heard chalk pain is pricey, so this tutorial could come in handy.

If we end up keeping the painted bottom this is the direction I would like to go. It's Annie Sloan Country Grey over their White with a dark wax over it.

It pains me to spell out words all day every day, especially the same words for the same children. Since our district has basically nixed Spelling as a class I'm thinking this would be a great idea for their ELA journals.

One of my favorite bloggers (Lambert's Lately) shared her cleaning schedule and I started following it this week! I definitely needed a better way to clean instead of just cleaning like a mad woman all day Saturday.

I really want some wood slices for who knows what, but now I know how to seal them at least.

When I ordered the canvas of Harrison's newborn picture I accidentally ordered a bit small. So now I'm trying to think of something else to go on the wall with it, since it just looks so small. I'm thinking about getting some acrylic paint and making one of these for that space.

When we moved into our house my main love was the big kitchen. It has a great spacious layout. 

However, it wasn't the original kitchen. This leaves us with an odd nook between the living room and kitchen. Many people have suggested putting the our farm house table there but there are two biggies in the way of that. 

1. There is plenty of room in the kitchen for the table. Plus the kitchen is tile (easy kid food mess clean up) and the living room/nook is wood flooring (not so kid food friendly). 

2. There are 3 rooms in the house, our room, baby room, guest room. That nook is the perfect space for an office area that we both really need without having a desk in a weird spot. 

Recently Jeremy menioned finding a desk, we've been putting it off. Heck we've put everything except the nursery off since we moved in. So I started searching Pinterest, of course, to find office spaces that were styled with my beloved Ikea furniture. 

Here's what I have in mind. 


There are three walls in the nook, and one odd curve-ish corner. I think this would be a good idea for the smaller wall.




And this would be great for the other two walls.








I really like the Hemmes desk that matches a lot of the other furniture we bought on the last Ikea trip, but it would be too small for the space. I'm really wanting a built in look without paying for actual built-ins.




Here's another cute idea, but we'd need to add shelving to the space.




I really love this one, but I don't think we have enough space in the nook to do it justice.




Hopefully we fit the measurements for the first office I showed you and that fills the nook! One day when the house is done... a hundred years from now... I'll do a home tour.

I had a whitty post in mind, but goodness help me if Mom Brain coupled with screaming baby didn't make me forget where I was going.

So instead let's fall back on our weekly (my weekly) favorite around here and talk about what amazingness Pinterest has offered up lately!


Next month I'm going back to work, but only for two and a half weeks before summer break. I've had to start figuring out what my pumping essentials were, since as much as I'd love to stay home and only breastfeed for the first year and it isn't an option. This is basically what I've come to love, minus the chip bag clip. I just assume buy the right size pumping bra to start with. Which might I add I wasn't going to buy until I couldn't figure out how to pump two handed without one. 


I love this cleaning idea, so much more efficient than buying a dust mop. Plus it addes to your WetJet uses! 


Wouldn't you know that a future adventure we are definitely having with a little boy is camping, talk about an inexpensive family weekend getaway. I loved this list of camping essentials - it's definitely been a few years since I was a regular camper. 


Helpful tips for introducing a bottle >>>
Our lacatation consultant really stressed not introducing a bottle until between weeks 4-6. She was also anti pacifier, but we only made it the first full week without one. I honestly think his latch got better after we got him to take one, he was latching shallow before and not sticking his tongue out all the way. My hands down favorite bottle is the Munchkin Latch for sure, it's supposed to mimic the breast. I had trouble getting Harrison to take a bottle from the Medela bottles, but the Latch was super easy. Honestly I don't want to pump and give bottles at all, but we are doing 2-3 a week just to get him use to it before I go back to work. 


I definitely packed all of these essentials, then the next day I got my Mom to bring my Honest Company Nipple Balm. I can't stress enough how much I adore their Nipple Balm and now their Healing Balm. Don't even touch the Lanolin people, thier organic food grade Nipple Balm is the only thing you need... and I wasn't paid to love them. 


I A) have something I need to strip, and B) really want to pain a dresser like this.

I Heart Pinterest - Spring Cleaning

Spring has definitely sprung down south, our grass is a pretty green and the bushes in our flower bed are full of pretty pink flowers.

That makes me think one thing, cleaning.

Here are some of my favorite cleaning finds I'd dug up on Pinterest lately to help boost that spring cleaning mood of mine... maybe the baby will nap long enough that I can finally clean those ceiling fans.


This is a biggie on my cleaning list this week - as soon as the dishwasher quits running I'm going to see just how well this works!

I love this idea, neve thought to wash pillows before Pinterest existed. I used this for our throw pillows, but took all of our bed pillows and used bleach in the washing machine. It did wonders for the color and they smelled amazing. 


I have this one printed out and in my planner -  not to transfer it to the fridge and follow it to the T!

I'm pretty sure the grout in our kitchen was never sealed. That makes a huge difference with color and the amount of dirt it seems to hold onto. I used this trick by the back door where the previous owners dogs had tracked in mud and caused the grout to look muddy and disgusting. It worked like a charm and I can promise you this is going to happen to the entire kitchen over Easter Break!


I know they carry dusters designed for ceiling fans, but they seems to spread dust throughout the room more than anything in my honest opinion. Putting a pillow case over the blades to clean them sounds like a genius idea, but who knows how we'll clean that crazy high fan in the living room!


I alternate between this recipe and bleach water to clean the tile in our house. 

Here's my personal recipe for laundry detergent. We make this about once a year and it costs $20, I'd say that's not too shabby. Granted when Harrison's clothing starts getting washed with ours and not with baby detergent I'll probably have to make it more often, but for now once is year isn't bad at all.

I've been sitting on ths dryer sheet to clean baseboards pin for ages, this might be a Easter Break project as well. Now that I'm not insanely pregnant and all!

And to finish it off, here are a few more of my recipes for green cleaning. I try not to use a lot of store bought chemical sprays because they irritate my allergies. I feel like I have a serious cold if I use more than this and bleach to clean the house.

I Heart Pinterest Wednesday!

It's been ages, like since my second trimester kind of ages since we did a Pinterest Wednesday. 

Needless to say the midnight feedings have given me plenty of time to pin. 

Here are some recipes I'm dying to make, as soon as I've used up my freezer meals!


You could easily use fat free sour cream or greek yogurt to healthy this up even more. 

Considering the amount of sweet potatoes I have in our pantry this would make good use of them. 

I've eaten oatmeal every way I know how since it's so good for your milk supply. This would be a nice change of pace for breakfast. 

Irish Stew is something I've actually never made. Not even beef stew. 

Another great use of sweet potatoes.

Jeremy has always been partial to blackened chicken, so this would have to be a hit. I'd have to use brown rice though.

It just looks so good!

I haven't made Pad Thai in ages, now that Whole Foods is open maybe I can find the ingredients I need easier.

Here's a little of my pin-spiration for the week. 

Now if only once of these pinterest staged bloggers would show up and unpack the rest of my house. 
I'm pretty convinced the baby's room will be the only complete room for a few years to come. 


I nearly died when I saw this today. I know I say I nearly die at least once a week, but coming from someone who got teary eyed placing a Scholastic order for my child, and not just the kids in the room I refer to as "my children" whom I often buy books for... everything is a cause for me "nearly dying" here lately. 


I may have posted this one last week, blame the hormones, but I love this idea way more than purchasing an ornament. 


Mental note for ole Emily - then again I really need a "things you shouldn't eat if you want to not torment your baby while breastfeeding."


Is this not the best idea for a chore chart? 


Husband, I would like you to make this for me. Like back in the day when you made all my coffee. I highly regret you ever telling me what you put in my coffee so I could manage it myself. Sincerely, Me. 


Let's get really honest, I think I'm going to be a toy Nazi. I'd rather education things, or outside toys, or books. These are in my line of cute things I wouldn't cringe over. 


I want to do this with my students as Christmas presents for their mothers, and I secretly would like to do it because I think it looks like fun. (for me too kinda fun)


Y'all know how much I love a good natural cleaner. I honestly feel like I have a head cold if I clean with anything other than natural/green cleaners.

I Heart Pinterest Wednesday!

Normally at this point in the year I would have started Christmas decorating. 
Maybe it's the not totally unpacked house holding me off. 

Either way I'm obsessed with Thanksgiving right now. 
Not decorating so much, just food. I'm so ready to start cooking for this year!


I'm loving this front door sign, I just may have to make it for next year!


When I saw the handprint turkey table runner I immediately decided we are doing it with our kids. 


As soon as I can get my hands on some cinnamon sticks (the big bags sold around Christmas) I'm making these, it's a great transitional decoration into Christmas. 


I'm not afraid to admit I have a thing for simmering potpourri, hello new holiday smell since Jeremy told me he is sick of the rosemary. 


On Christmas Eve we always have a little mini family party with finger foods before getting into the car to look at lights. This year I'm adding a Pineapple Wassail. 


The next few aren't holiday related, but I can't stop laughing at them. 



I want to make this Orange Spice Coconut Pumpkin Pie so bad, but I'm the only family member who loves pumpkin this much. I may make it any way. The baby doesn't have an opinion yet.

I Heart Pinterest Wednesday!

I had yesterday off of work for the Election, I seriously thought I'd be so productive unpacking the house. 

Major fail, I played on Pinterest and caught up on the DVR. 

At least I made it out of the house to vote and workout ha!


When I saw this I literally cried laughing, and then text it to about 5 people!


My goal for this Christmas as far as decorating goes is rustic country, all homemade ornaments. These mixed in with my cinnamon ornaments will look cute. 


Burlap garland, because I need another excuse to put burlap on something in this house. 


Here's my easy Orange Julius recipe I shared last week, I'm drinking one now becaue I simply love them so much. This would even been really good made in a larger batch and slightly slushy for brunch. 


Pinterest is making me want to throw a Christmas party this year so badly, these Pecan Pie Marshmallows sound so easy to make. 


I love brie, I don't know what to say about why I pinned this other than that I love brie. 


You can bet your sweet heart this recipe is getting made this holiday season. We are some serious eggnog lovers in this house. I currently have some pumpkin eggnog that I was skeptical about, but it's heavenly.

After a long week of unpacking and doing little handy man chores it's high time for some Pinterest therapy. 

Y'all I kid you not our bed hates us, don't ever buy a bed from Ashley Furniture. 
We bought ours 5 years ago and it has collased for no reason once a year every year. 
Last night it finally bit the dust. 


High Key photo tips, not exactly food friendly, but fun to learn. 


I haven't gone fall decorating crazy around here, but I did buy a pumpkin. Maybe by Christmas I can be in full holiday decorating mode!


Love it!


Banana Bread just smells like Saturday morning growing up, that and an Orange Julius. These are bound to be divine. 


Here's my little semi homemade recipe I shared a few weeks ago, I plan on making them again when my parents are in town while J is off with the guys. 


I made these a few years ago and the bowl was nearly licked clean by Jeremy. That is proof it's good. The man doesn't get excited about too many things. He just doesn't love food like I love food. 


I love this idea, especially since we have to keep a guest room if we ever want visitors. Thanks living over 3 hours away from family. This is a great use for any sample size items you get, especially since I tend to forget everything when I travel anywhere. 


I love a good simmering potpourri, and since Jeremy is sick of smelling the Williams Sonoma one with rosemary this will have to be my winter smell. Side note... these are great for people with allergies. While my Scentsy and candles make me sneeze, this kind of stuff never does.
