36 Weeks

February 18, 2015

Well it looks like all the food fun must come to an end and I have to revert back to health nut Emily.

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 36 weeks
Size of baby: Baby H is the size of a large cantaloupe
Maternity Clothes: All maternity pants and bras, and Piko tops. Plus whatever of Jeremy's that fits. Support belt and compression stockings have become a must... and not a wrist thing for carpel tunnel. It pays to have girlfriends having babies at the same time.
Gender: Boy
Movement: All the time, in a slight Alien vs Predator way.
Cravings: Ice and sweets
What I miss: Sleeping without pain, my skin can stretch no more!
Highlight this week: As of today I've dilated from 1 last week and not effaced to 2cm and 50% effaced.

The downside... my blood pressure is up. It was 140/80 after I fought to get my boots off before the nurse weighed me, then I got it back to the 132 like it was last week. Much higher than my normal 120, all of which has led me to have to have my blood drawn today... a 24 hour urine test Sunday... then have my blood drawn again Monday. Luckily there was no protein in my urine today, so hopefully this can be remedied.

Dang this is just so fun.

I started taking Gentle Birth at 35 weeks and have obviously seen some progression, but a side effect a few people mentioned was higher blood pressure. Therefore, I'll be stopping taking it as of this moment and see how that effects my blood pressure next week.

And also daily until next Tuesday, I have to check it daily and log it. More yay.

Obviously I am singing the praises of this stuff, but if it is causing my blood pressure to rise then I'll have to sacrifice early dilation and easier labor for not having to be induced or a section due to ridiculous blood pressure.

So today I'm drinking my kefir (supposed to help with hypertension) and the health nut is reappearing.

Salt, you were fun while you lasted. The fried foods without guilt were great too.
But I don't plan on having this baby early because you taste so good.

Any other Mom's have some tricks to keep your blood pressure down? I've been told to stay off my feet when I'm not at work and to stay off of them as much as possible when I'm there too.
