Fishing, Bumper Cars, and Velcro Dogs

March 6, 2026

Here's a little life update dump. Mostly the end of February, honestly, how is February 3 days long and January lasts a decade? Anyway, here's what we've been up tp.

Velcro dogs might be a cute moniker for what is happening, but it when I'm cooking or walking through the many doorways in our 1940's style home... it gets annoying. Maybe it's just my mood today just thinking about it, or maybe it is the fact that Honey has been acting up and being an awful teenage dog lately. I think I took this photo in humor, but after the mess that puppy has been making... the humor has been sucked dry.

I'm going to be so sad when the kids graduate from KidStrong. I know I bring it up a bunch, but the character development side of it is 1000% worth it.

For my birthday we checked out the new Fish Box restaurant in Lafayette and then wandered around the Asian Market. If you are wanting a quick in and out, this is the way to go. I really liked that I could pick a variety and not have just one or two rolls.

We had the opportunity to go fishing at our friend's pond over the break. I don't know what has changed in Harrison that made him like fried bass, but we get excited about any new food he takes on. The boys being at an age where I'm not constantly fretting that they will fall into a body of water or a fire is so nice. Until Elliot hit 5, there were many camping trips and water experiences where I was certain I would be fishing a child out of water.

Seriously, I wrote about it years ago, but Harrison wasn't listening to instruction and slipped at the Cahaba River and we both went under. A friend's husband had to fish us both out. Thank goodness for her big ole firefighter husband, I don't think I would have been able to easily get us both out of that rushing river.

To celebrate Harry turning 11, we took a few of his friends to Urban Air. It definitely isn't priced to been a common occurance, but it is definitely worth it for special occasions.

Last but not least, just another family date night with an 11 year old that can do without photos.
Oh man, looking at my poor little mini van in the background, that was before I was rear ended by a brand new dirver at a red light 😢. Seriously, I was the second car at a dead stop for several minutes and was just randomly hit after the driver had been sitting behind me at this light. The light went for so long that I got out of my car twice trying to figure the situation out and the light was still red.

When it rains it pours I guess, the same day I was rear ended (thank goodness that is covered by insurance) Jeremy's truck started acting up... and we've been fussing with our dryer. Murpy's Law is always so much fun.

Turning 40 & 18 Year of Blogging

February 25, 2026

Today I turn 40 and yesterday I got an email confirming that my domain was registered for another year. I started blogging on Halloween of 2008, but bought my dot com right before my birthday.

With that, and probably some wrinkle paranoia, I've seriously updated my skin routine. I had gotten a little lazy last year and over this past summer I kicked it back into high gear. Granted I'm not a Botox user, so there is only so much that can be done for the forehead and the amoutn of faces I make. Anything to slow the process though.

My big splurge for my 40th is that I am having my eyebrows microbladed, tattooed, by Haylee Mel PMU. I'm seriously stoked, these brows had some damage done to them in the early 2000's that I didn't start trying to fix until I was on maternity leave with Harrison. So whatever you see in photos, thats all smoke, mirrors, and makeup. Now the only downside to this, I have to give up using trentinoin for several weeks.

Gasp! The shock and horror! It's taking some hard core self control to resist, but there is absolutely no point in using it though because all that work will be in vain when my eyebrows won't take the tattoo or it fades too fast.

Well, anyway, let's get into my ridiculous skin care routine that could be more ridiculous but I am trying to not prevent the children from ever attending college, because I spent all out money on serums.

Everything below is in the order I put it on!

Morning Routine:

Jojoba Oil (or Rosehip Oil)
70 SPF

Then I do face cupping with about 5 passes on each area.

Evening Rotine:

Trentinoin 0.025% (2 nights on and 1 off)
Cerave Healing Ointment (around eyes and down smile lines)
Medicube Overnight Wrapping Mask (on my cheeks and on the smiles line around my eyes on non Tretinoin nights)

Then I like to do my LED mask a few nights a week and I do face cupping again in the evening. After that I will etiher put on a silicone forehead patch, use kinesology tape, or if it's a vacation and I can keep it on longer I will use Frownies.

I love Frownies since they are much stiffer than K Tape, but at $25 per box I can't rationalize using them everyday. I also wish I would sleep on my back, but I'm a side sleeper and rarely sleep on my back.

It's a lot, but I've gathered products over the years, so things run out really spaced out. Once I run out of the Dr Althea PDRN cream I'm going to try out Centellian 24 Madeca Cream Time Reverse. I've heard good things about it and it also works well to rebuild the skin barrier and can help on trentinoin nights.

I don't have a link for my LED mask, I bought it about 6 years ago and paid $50 back then before they got popular. Also, when it comes to silicone forehead patches I have found that the cheaper ones last even longer than the name brand patches.

My biggest game changer in the past year has been using ChatGPT for supplements and my skincare routine. Put in what you are using and your goals and it can help you tweek your line up. My cholesterol was borderline two ish years ago and I started messing with my supplemts to get it straight. I put all of my blood panel info and supplements into Chat and the next time I did blood work the doctor told me I was A++. I recently did the same to mess with my skincare and goals, I basically needed to add an SPF outside of my La Roche Posay and it gave me advice for what to stop using and when to restart with my upcoming microblading appointment.
