Can We Get Remarried So I Can Wear This Dress?

March 19, 2010

Oh my goodness why did I not see this dress when I was dress hunting. It is absolutely to die for! And it had pockets!!! Have I told you how much I love dresses with pockets, well I do.
J. Crew description:
Genevieve silk radzimir gown Pure magic in a very rare fabric usually reserved for royal weddings and haute couture—so rare, we could make only a few of these beautiful dresses. Luxurious midweight Italian silk radzimir with delicate spaghetti straps. Fitted bodice, full skirt with inverted box pleats and shirring for volume. Back zip hidden with self-covered buttons. Hidden on-seam pockets. Fully lined. Falls to floor.

Love love love some J.Crew dresses. Oh how I wish I would have seen this beauty.

{yet another hair post}

I think I finally found what to give the hair stylist to show how we are doing the hair piece. Granted this chicks bun is some kinda messy, but I think this will get the were to place the flower across...since to date no one has totally gotten the idea. Higher than your ear = weird, lower than your ear = outta place, even with you ear= just right.

Y'all should be proud of me I have finished attaching the ribbon to the divider, all I have left to secure the foam board to the actual divider.

Here is a sneak peak of the bridals from yesterday. Since Jeremy reads this I'm not showing the dress. But out of the sneak peak I got this is my favorite...the whole uncropped pic is awesome!

The engagement should run in the Concordia Sentinel today, I was planning on linking it but their site hasn't been updated since my cousin's engagement announcement a few weeks ago.

Wait till y'all see these bridal pics, they turned out great despite my hair issue. I covered up the dress in one and showed Jeremy and he said it didn't look like me at all{compliment? guys word things weird}. I'll let ya know when Jennifer puts some up on her blog.

Word of advice: if your hair dresser does your run through and says oh we will do this this and this when you come back I'm just playing around...she is lying her butt off. I paid $35 for a glorified french braid! She told me oh I'll put rollers in for more volume but guess what, nada, she teased the top then braided it, and attempted to leave the pony tail out and not tuck it in. After I made her tuck it in she did a crappy job of that. She then preceeded to bend and twist my hair piece to make it fluff, it's no supposed to fluff! So now I am stuck with a sad hair piece that I am attempting to mold back into shape, I'm still horrified that she would even consider balling it up in her hand like she did.

Luckily in the pics you wouldn't know the difference that a few minutes before I was lost as a dog trying to find Austin's Bistro and mad that a 30 minute french braid was $35.

I took this from Kelly Moore's blog. This is where Jennifer Lizenby is shooting my bridal pics this after noon. I can't wait, I haven't been to eat at Austin's Bistro yet but it looks super cool. I love how photographers are getting away from traditional bridals these days. I think I've become the anti-bride with my hate of all things tulle and fluff.

***the lady in the middle of the first pic is Katie May, she shot our engagement {i know ive told ya} but she is awesome!

Bridal pics are coming up so now its time to decide once and for all on what to do with my hair. Granted I had the wonderful idea to chop it all off last summer when Jeremy went to Africa...who knows what I was thinking. Needless to say it is taking what seems like forever to grow out. Perhaps I should have been warned I'd be getting engaged two months later. Well here are some hair styles from theknot.com
Hopefully I can narrow this down before spring break or I just won't have a do at all. Maybe I'll just take all three pics and just let whoever do whatever.

{something old, something new, something borrowed, SOMETHING BLUE, and a lucky sixpence in your shoe}

Guess what came in the mail today...my earrings I ordered off off Etsy.com. Yes I have become obsessed with that site. But what the hey it totally goes with how I am and my weddingish theme. Well since the Martha Stewart obsession I've gone on a handmade kick, as you could prolly tell, and well everything I have been able to buy handmade has been handmade. Now don't worry the dress isn't handmade...but its from a smaller less known bridal company. But I have in fact been driving myself insane with all the diy projects. So with out further adieu, something that someone else handmade:

I had heard about the seller wiyomu from the i heart peonies blog, needless to say I loved the jewlery so much I ordered it the same day. And it finally came in!

So here ya go, something blue!

Now if I can only figure out something borrowed, and something old. New is obviously the dress, and hair piece... I ordered a sixpence, but who knows where it is in the land of pony mail...Mom mentioned using her garter for borrowed but I wouldn't be able to throw it so that won't work. Hmm decisions decisions. Maybe a vintage garter from Etsy for old?

But I'm not crazy enough to put the thing on here. Who do ya think this dress belongs to? Considering this is straight up 1970's it shouldn't be a hard guess. But I'll be nice and put part of my dress on here...

And that is all anyone is gonna see, don't wanna risk Jeremy seeing anything;)

The dress I almost bought

February 7, 2009

There is a way better pic of this dress on the front page of the Thread site.{ www.threaddesign.com}

But anyhoo this is as close as your gonna get to seeing my dress before 5/30/09...and by the looks of it as close as I can get to seeing it too.{mine has yet to be shipped and three weeks late might I add} I still love love this dress, the material is so different and not the regular ruffle everyone is doing these days. But there were two things getting between me and this dress...the mom and the money. This lovely little number cost about twice what my Thread dress cost.

Guess it's good I didn't buy it though because not long after a pic of my beloved McClean dress was put on the main page I decided to show it to Mr. Groom and the conversation went this way...

me: "Wanna see the dress I almost bought for the wedding?"
mr. groom: "What's with the material?"
me: "Are you serious that is the entire point of the dress! Wow well can't wait for you to see what I bought."

That is just a snipet of the whole "is all your taste in your mouth" conversation. Sadly enough I think he wouldn't know the difference if I wore a white trash bad and tied it at the waist with a rope. Men. haha

DB dresses and Bella Donna

Well after several months of not being able to make a decision David's Bridal finally put out a dress I liked, only problem is I like the Mermaid color better than Watermelon but Mermaid is the wrong blue. So sad I know. I'd have to say though it took longer to decided what the girl were gonna wear than what I was going to wear, I ordered my dress back in October. I think it will look good on everyone, my sister tried it on an it was very slimming on her. But my poor ole Britt who is due in March and has to order by then as well is worried to death that it won't fit or she will look like a blimp, I'm sure everything will turn out fine though.

Now to the coolest thing ever by someone I've posted about before...
The photographer who shot our engagement pics, Katie May of TwoSuez(http://www.twosuez.com/), has now come out with a few bridal hair pieces that are very pretty and very affordable{I'm thinking she said $35 a piece}. If I would have waited one more week I just might have ordered this instead, not saying I don't love my hair piece but these are awesome as well! After I get my dress in I will probably order one of her veils.
What is bad is that I've gotten this itch to do another session with Katie, not an engagement of course, but something really fun and funky for a bridal session. I have booked my wedding and bridal with Jennifer Lizenby and it is going to all be very pretty and traditional but still fun...but I have this crazy need to do some really funky bridal pics with Katie May. Now I just gotta talk Jeremy into it haha, he told me to come up with a list of reasons I should get to do another shoot with Katie...and I have to say I've come up with quite a long one;)
If anyone is wanting to purchase a Bella Donna piece from Katie May just go to their blog (you can get to it from the two suez site) and she has how to order on there.
And another side note...I figured out how to enable annoymous comments on here {so now you can leave one Mom}. So if you read, leave me a comment and let me know what ya think it would be great to hear other peoples opinion about what I put up.

Modern Romance from Etsy

January 22, 2009

I seriously don't think I could get more excited than I am right now! My "Big Organza Hair Clip" came in today from Christine Gorman of Modern Romance {modernromance.etsy.com}. I bloged much earlier about things I loved from etsy and my Mom ordered my hair clip I'm gonna use for the wedding. I knew I wanted to have this in my hair but I'm still not sure if I wanna have a veil. Oh how I have come to love the mail man...now if only my dress will show up soon! Well without further hesitation here are the pics of my lovely hair piece I just recieved in the mail.

{How nice is this! I don't see David's Bridal writing thank you notes when you buy their veils. This is why I love Etsy, it's all handmade and you can actually contact the seller.}

{I can't wait to see what it looks like with my hair actually fixed.}

{how pretty is that? oh I'm so happy I found this.}

{Big White Bows}

Yay Kelly's Kids came out with their Spring 09 line! This is what we are going to use for the flower girl and ring bearer outfits. Both are going to be in the blue, except the boys is a white shirt with blue lettering and blue shorts. And nothing is more exciting to me for some reason than that huge white Kelly's Kids bow. Oh I wish I could fit into them too! haha. I swear poor Jeremy, the majority of the reason I want to have kids is to dress them in Kelly's Kids haha, just kidding. Hopefully my ring bearer's Daddy doesn't

have a problem with this outfit...which might I add is half the reason I decided to buy their outfits for them(so dad can't fuss about having to buy this to dress his boy in). Oh I can't wait I'm so excited!

{boutonnieres}

December 20, 2008

I'm starting to worry a little about how the wedding stuff is going to look once it is all put together and I don't have time to change anything. This project is way up there on the "how is this going to turn out" list. Hopefully my doubt is just due to the fact that I have been sick for days and exhausted from working as much as I have this week.

Well here they are...the boutonnieres! I saw a similar one on Etsy.com and started to order it but decided I'd have a go at making them myself. Making them turned out to be a big budget saver at $15 and I still have a ton of materials left over. Like I said though, this may be one of those things that appears one way in my head and another way in reality...

So it's been quite a long time since I posted but between work, school, Thanksgiving, putting up the Christmas tree, and every other thing in life I haven't had time or even ideas to blog. Funny thing after we put the tree up the dogs decided they wanted to drink out of it, so now I've had to keep them baby gated out of the living room. Oh and wedding planning is coming along pretty good, I finally booked the photographer yesterday. If I had my dress (or had ever seen it in person) I could get married this month haha. Eventually something will come up that I haven't thought of.

Well enough of my rambling here are a few dresses from the Claire Pettibone line:
