5 months left? Oh Gosh!

Happy New Year! Wow life has been busy, I've basically been working like a slave at Sage this Christmas season and haven't had enough time to do as much wedding planning as I had hoped. I told my manager I needed a actual work day off this week so I could go to Vidalia and talk to a florist and to my cake lady{whom I love, I don't like white cake that much and her's was amazing} and take poor Ellie for her yearly shots. I'll make sure to post again soon about the flowers and cake...not to mention my bird cage that came in the mail!

On a side note I guess it is true that the new year is a time for new things. After our insane night at work my manager asked me if I'd like to be a server. I honestly thought that was not an option for me considering the amount of trust I have gotten at that hostess stand from him. I have certainly worked my butt off to show him that I have the maddness under control {especially last night when we had 248 people in our little 20 table main dining room last night with two busy busy seatings}. I feel like a approached it wrong though when he asked me cause I said "Wait, what? I don't know! " and had to go find him later and say I would do it. But it is really good money, our top servers make close to 30,000 a year and considering I think I only made a third of that this year it is a change I need to not fear and dive right into.

Now for a wedding something or another...

So for our first dance we are planning on swing dancing. Well at least Jeremy can swing dance...or even dance for that matter. I on the other hand did not recieve enough of those hispanic genes from my daddy and am cursed with white girl dancing. So here it is for your entertainment...us practicing two different swing dance tricks.

video

I haven't figured out what this trick is called it's a Lindy Hop one but sad thing is every time he swings me around perfect I freak out and won't let him flip me. This one would have actually been good had I not refused to let go haha.

{this is our second attempt of the trick, the flip after that is something I have finally gotten use to after landing on my back several times...it helps to keep your eyes open;).}

I'm super excited about the swing dancing so long as I don't bust my butt at the wedding haha. We actually danced a little at the Sage Christmas party and people were pretty impressed with it. One girl asked me how I was ok with him dropping me as far as he did when we did a suicide dip, I just told her I didn't know how close to the ground I was till I messed up and hit the floor;). I'll try to get a video up of us actually dancing to music, I'd really like to see what it looks like since all I've seen of my swing dance abuse are these videos.

I Love Snail Mail;)

Yay the album from TwoSuez came in the mail today! Yay Yay Yay!!!

{boutonnieres}

I'm starting to worry a little about how the wedding stuff is going to look once it is all put together and I don't have time to change anything. This project is way up there on the "how is this going to turn out" list. Hopefully my doubt is just due to the fact that I have been sick for days and exhausted from working as much as I have this week.

Well here they are...the boutonnieres! I saw a similar one on Etsy.com and started to order it but decided I'd have a go at making them myself. Making them turned out to be a big budget saver at $15 and I still have a ton of materials left over. Like I said though, this may be one of those things that appears one way in my head and another way in reality...

Somebody is Going to Die if Lilly Beth Doesn't Catch that Bouquet

I know I have been horrible at this, but my belief that once school was out for Christmas I'd have free time turned out to be a big lie I had convinced myself of to survive finals apparently. I have seemed to live at Sage this week and next week won't be any better. Our event planner went on vacay to I'm picking up the slack and working her lunch shift and my dinner hostess shift and what I like to call event stalking(bc we will find and force anyone into a set menu if you have more than 20 people) Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, and just my regular dinner hostess shift Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I have a feeling this week is gonna kick my butt majorly with the 9 shifts, christmas shopping I have to finish, going to the gym some time in all this, finishing boutonnieres(i'll blog about them when they are done), Bklyn Bride card swap(signed up for it before i knew i'd be the hostess slave), and cleaning the house and doing laundry(which i havent had time to do in two weeks and it is showing). And at no point in time in any of this do I get to pout like I'd love to because I'm the happy little hostess who will pull a table out of mid air to seat a well-to-do regular. Wow I need a break, only a week and a half till the Sage 3 day Christmas.

If anyone is looking for a good book to read this is definitely the one to pick up. It has got to be the funniest thing I have read in months. Metcalfe and Hays perfectly describe southerners and all of our quirky wedding ways. Several times while I was reading this I was laughing more because it has actually happened to me, or I have had my Mom and Nanny tell me not to do or how to do something that was being picked on in the book. Another great reason to read this is for the recipes, every southern weddingish(if it's even a word) food you have ever consumed at a southern wedding is in this book. Anyway here is synopsis from Amazon.com:

Even if you've never attended a wedding in the South, you'll find laughter in the pages of this deliciously entertaining slice of Southern life and love, complete with recipes, advice, and a huge dose of that famous charm
"In the Mississippi Delta, funerals bring out the best in people, while weddings, which are supposed to be happy occasions, bring out the worst." So say Gayden Metcalfe and Charlotte Hays, authors of the bestseller Being Dead Is No Excuse: The Official Southern Ladies' Guide to Hosting the Perfect Funeral, who turn their keen eyes and sharp wit from the end of the life cycle to the all-important midpoint. For anyone planning, participating in, or attending a wedding (Southern or not), this book will amuse, entertain, and provide advice for marital bliss, including:
--It's OK to peek at an etiquette book, but if you rely too heavily on it, people will think that you are not fully acquainted with what is right and wrong.—Anything that was not done in the past doesn't need to be done now—consider this before ordering a groom's cake, especially one featuring a fishing-tackle or golfing theme.
Gayden Metcalfe is a lifelong Southerner and one of the founders of the Greenville Arts Council. She lives in Greenville, Mississippi. Charlotte Hays is a Delta native and recovering gossip columnist living in Washington, D.C.

{I should go to Vegas with my luck}

So apparently some of a friend's wedding luck(she won am amazing photographer, videographer and a wedding planner) is rubbing off on me. I was originally planning on just going to the dollar store and buying thank you cards when I needed some, but now I might not have to buy quite as many. Forgive me I'm slightly late posting about this but a few weeks ago a won a contest with the Hostess with the Mostess blog and recieved a $1oo gift card from Charming Cards. Whoo hoo. I am so super excited about the cards because there is no other way I would be able to justify spending $100 on 75 thank you cards. Plus they are really cute! Well here are the cards I picked out:

{the only difference is that ours has a B}

Claire Pettibone

So it's been quite a long time since I posted but between work, school, Thanksgiving, putting up the Christmas tree, and every other thing in life I haven't had time or even ideas to blog. Funny thing after we put the tree up the dogs decided they wanted to drink out of it, so now I've had to keep them baby gated out of the living room. Oh and wedding planning is coming along pretty good, I finally booked the photographer yesterday. If I had my dress (or had ever seen it in person) I could get married this month haha. Eventually something will come up that I haven't thought of.

Well enough of my rambling here are a few dresses from the Claire Pettibone line:
